Filled Under:

The "Vegan" dilemma

When you chop plants for food, they don't have mouths and hence cannot cry which I makes the vegetarians think they are ethical.
Seeds and grains are the worst sufferers since they all contain living embryos which could have developed into living plants. But which are, in turn, is boiled or roasted or ground in unimaginable ways for human consumption.

If vegetarians ask what else to eat without harming any living creature, then its also a valid question.

God didn't provide us with photosynthetic powers to prepare energy directly from the sun. If He commanded us to be vegetarians but killing any living beings to be a sin then isn't killing plants a sin too? Conversely, if He made some animals as food for humans then why did He develop them with senses so they too can feel the pain of slaughter? This argument ultimately leads to the question of whether God even exists or not!

Again, if you ask why universe let evolve organisms that consume other organisms for food then that is also an open question. A slight hint of the answer is that nature evolves through the principle of survival of the fittest, an organism is apparently free to choose how to live and thrive. Empathy, morality, love etc are just limited to personal choices.

Its our placement in the food chain that's the main problem. We have to kill eliminate other organisms for food. Its the natural law.
