I am a movie kind of guy but not into chick flicks but this movie was referred to me by a female friend of mine. At first I was little sceptical about the entertainment capacity of this movie but not only it entertained me very well but also made it into list of my favourite movies. This movie was made from the book written by John Green "The Fault in our Stars."
This movie taught me a very important thing that we can find a little forever in our life no matter how small it is. The movie inspired me to read the book from which the movie was made and I became fan of this novel all over.
One of the ideas that resonates with Hazel, the 16-year-old narrator of the story, is the idea that "some infinities are bigger than other infinities."
In Hazel's voice, Green writes,
“There are infinite numbers between 0 and 1. There’s .1 and .12 and .112 and an infinite collection of others. Of course, there is a bigger infinite set of numbers between 0 and 2, or between 0 and a million. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.… I cannot tell you how grateful I am for our little infinity. You gave me forever within the numbered days, and I’m grateful.”
Even though the Infinity Idea said in this book is mathematically incorrect but still the movie and the book made me cry and smile at the same time. If you want to read more about how it is inaccurate you can refer to Cantor’s diagonalization.
But my view is, Infinity of life's moment bigger or smaller it is equally important. It is necessary to embrace it with all you have, because some infinity only seems bigger than the others. The Reality is, it's you who decides what is your infinity. Happiness, love, beauty, sadness, pain and even infinity is subjective in nature, nothing is bigger or smaller.
